Obituary of Mark Kevin Knotz

Mark Knotz, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, at the age of 68.  Mark was born on June 26, 1955, and lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to his family and friends.  Mark grew up in south Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn high school.  After high school, he started his life-long career as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Minneapolis - Water Department.  He met the love of his life, Andrea, in 1983 and also gained a daughter, Rachel.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing.  He spent countless hours in the serene landscapes of the great outdoors, where he felt most at home.  His love for nature was infectious, and he often shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with friends and family.  The bond Mark shared with his grandchildren was also truly special, and his influence and love will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

Mark was also known for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.  He was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light to many.  His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mark leaves behind his devoted wife of 41 years, Andrea Knotz, who was his steadfast companion and greatest supporter.  He is also survived by his loving daughter, Rachel Gartner, her husband, Brian Gartner of Hutchinson, MN, and his cherished grandchildren, Cole and Reece Gartner.  His other surviving family members are his sister Mary (Knotz) and Dave Helberg of Estero, FL, his brother Rich Knotz of Ely, MN, his sister-in-law Debbie Knotz of Bancroft, WI, and his sister Julie (Knotz) and Bryan Bonucci of Eagan, MN.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Rita Knotz of Richfield, MN, and his two brothers, Michael P. Knotz of Woodinville, WA and Paul Knotz of Bancroft, WI.

Mark's legacy will live on through the values, stories, and traditions he imparted to his family.  Mark's memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.  May he rest in peace, surrounded by the wilderness he loved so dearly and the family and friends who will never forget him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 6-8pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota - First Memorial Funeral Center at 7110 France Avenue in Edina, MN.
