Obituary of Susan Patricia Korhonen

Susan “Sue” Patricia Korhonen 75 died Tuesday May 28th at St. Luke’s Hospital with her children and grandchildren by her side.

Sue was born March 15th, 1949 in Duluth, Minnesota to George and Jean Nephew.  She loved traveling, skiing, golfing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family.

She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1967.  She attended UWS where she earned her bachelors degree in psychology.   She was a foster parent to many children throughout the years. 

Sue spent countless hours at the West Duluth American Legion Post 71 with her beloved friends and family.  She was auxiliary president 1986, 1987, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2016, and 2017.  She held many other leadership roles there over the years.

She is survived by her children Christian Kopp and Stephanie Kopp Forslund, 5 grandchildren Christian (CJ), Sawyer, Olivia, Cooper and Natalie Forslund, 4 great grandchildren Brantley, Lucca, Persephanie and Finley.  Brothers Dave (Stacy) and Tim (Dianne) Nephew.  Sister Beth Friedman.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Jan Rohweder, and brother Dan Nephew.

Sue lived life to the fullest and was never afraid to go on adventures.  She was so proud of her children and grandchildren.  

A celebration of life and luncheon will be held June 5th from 2-5pm at the West Duluth American Legion Post 71.
