Obituary of Joanne Carol Hermann
Joanne Carol Hermann of Excelsior died 3-26-2024 of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents: Helen and Dr. Ed Olsen and husband of 62 years, Dr. Lee Hermann. She is survived by her children; Meredith (Whiting), Leslie (Goines) and Todd Hermann. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jo was born in Detroit, MI but soon moved to Minneapolis. While in her teens the family moved to Oak Ridge, TN. Her father was on staff at the army hospital during the Manhattan Project. She finished her Jr and Sr high school years at Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, MA. College took her back to the UofMN where she was active in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated with her BA in Bacteriology.
She and Lee traveled extensively around the world. She was involved in the League of Women Voters and was an election judge for many years. She was also on the board of the Minnetonka community mental health center.
Jo and Lee were founding members of the Lake Fellowship Unitarian Universalist Church in Tonka Bay. There is a plan to celebrate her life at an open house at the Lake Fellowship Church, 24575 Glen Road, Excelsior, MN on July 13, 2024; from 10am to 2pm.
