Obituary of Lawrence R. Champion

Lawrence R Champion, 66, died Sunday, April 28, 2024 at home in Hermantown, MN. He was born in Hibbing, MN on May 1, 1957 to James and Jean Champion. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia Minn. He attended Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis and went to work for Cray Research Inc. as a systems test technologist in Chippewa Falls, WI He was proud of the work he did at Cray which enabled him to travel to numerous countries including Japan, Italy and Germany. He lived in the WI area until 2016 when he retired and moved back to Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother in law. He is survived by his brother James G (Nancy) Champion, Albuquerque, NM, sister, Peggy Champion, Hermantown, MN, nieces, Colleen Champion, San Bruno, CA, Kelly Champion, Albuquerque, NM and Kortney Lucero, Albuquerque, NM and their children, niece Melissa (Michael) Cattel, Duluth, MN and nephew, Christopher (Diana) Thorp, Miami, FL and their children.

Despite living in WI for many years Larry remained a lifelong MN Twins and MN Vikings fan.
