Obituary of Margaret Ann Olsen
Margaret “Peggy” Ann Olsen, age 75, of Breezy Point, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Brainerd, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, on February 21st, 1949, to John and Margaret Gould, Peggy was a proud graduate of Hermantown High School, Class of 1967, where she was an enthusiastic member of the Choir and Pep Club.
Peggy dedicated 35 years to home care for seniors while raising her own family, showing immense devotion to both. After retiring in 2014, she continued to engage in the lives of seniors as a part-time activities coordinator at various senior living facilities. This work reflected her lifelong commitment to nurturing and support, traits that deeply endeared her to all who knew her.
On August 15th, 1981, Peggy married the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Olsen, and together they embarked on numerous adventures. After initially settling in Twig, Minnesota, the couple moved to Wyoming, Minnesota, and then spent 12 memorable years in Washington State. They later relocated to Breezy Point in 2023. Together, they cherished “snowbirding” in their RV, seeking warmth and adventure across the country during winter months. Their travels included memorable vacations with friends Steve and Debbie Rautio in Hawaii, Orlando, Branson, and Las Vegas, and many cherished times on Lake Vermillion with Bob and Susan Hylland.
Peggy’s legacy of love and warmth is carried on by her husband, Rick; her children, Kathlyn “Kathy” (Tom) Brenier, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Hendrickson, and Michael “Mike” (Michelle) Olsen; and her grandchildren, Charlotte and Henry Olsen. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael “Mike” Gould, James “Jim” Gould, and Gerald “Jerry” Gould, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Gould, and her sister, Barbara Melvin.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held from 3 to 5 pm, Wednesday May 15th, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, in Duluth.
Peggy’s warm smile and generous spirit will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
