Obituary of Douglas Edward Forster

Douglas Edward Forster, age 68, of Dassel, MN, passed away on April 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

Doug was born on June 1, 1955, to Douglas and Lola Forster, the oldest of 5 children and grew up in Blackduck, MN. He graduated from Blackduck High School and shortly afterward entered the U.S. Navy serving from 1973-1977. On August 1, 1981, he was united in marriage to Donna Ziegenhagen. In 1983, he graduated from Bemidji State University. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by 3M.

Doug had a keen memory for facts and loved to joke and tell stories. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards/games and traveling. However, his favorite and most important pastime was spending time with family and friends, and he was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife, Donna, and sons Matt (Brianna) of East Grand Forks, Mike (Kim) of Royalton, Jeremy (Anna) of Puposky; his beloved grandchildren Isaac, Addison, Isabella, Ezekiel and Kenna; siblings Beverly (Greg) Wingren of Eveleth, Vicky (Jeff) Christenson of Bemidji, Randy (Billie Jo) of Palisade.

He is also survived by sisters-in law Pat, Wendy and Karen; brothers-in-law Gary and Dale; plus many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond.

Funeral services for Doug will take place on Saturday, May 4th, at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, at 11am with visitation at 10am.
