Obituary of FloraJane Irene Gustafson

FloraJane Irene Gustafson, was born March 24, 1936, and passed away at home surrounded by her family at the age of 88 on April 12, 2024. FloraJane grew up in Crookston, Minnesota. After graduating Crookston High School, she went to Nursing school where she completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program then moved to St. Paul Minnesota where she began her nursing career. She later met and married the love of her life, Raymond Gustafson of Shevlin Minnesota. They later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they raised their three children. While in Minneapolis, FloraJane joined her beloved singing group the Silvertones where she developed many lifelong friendships! 

In her later years FloraJane changed careers to work with the Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency until her retirement in 1991 when she and Raymond moved to Carrollton, Texas. She found her new family with her new church, Christ United Methodist church in Farmers Branch, Texas. While in Texas she was very involved with her church and the Stephen’s Ministry program, and the red hat society. Sometime after the passing of the love of her life in 1998 she moved back to Minnesota in 2007 to be closer to most of her family where she spent the rest of her years. 

Throughout FloraJane’s life, she continued to enjoy life, her growing family, her church, nature, and her music. 

FloraJane was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Gladys Berg, brother Earl D. Berg, sister Joyce Ingvalson, grandson DJ Giernet, grandnephew Gabriel Nguyen London, and the love of her life, Raymond Gustafson. 

She is survived by her brother Robert Berg (Ngoc), brother-in-law Silas Gustafson (Anita); her three children Jean Long (Chris), Dean Gustafson (Elaine), and Karin Brekhus (Randy); grandsons William Goosen, Steve Long, Cory Kruger, Jay Kruger, Brandon Brekhus, and Christian Brekhus; sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other beloved family members. 

A Celebration of Life will be at Epworth United Methodist Church on April 20th, 2024, at 4:30 pm. A meal will be served by the United Methodist Women following the service.
