Obituary of Russell Scott Woodstrom

Age 68, of Minneapolis,MN passed away April 9th, 2024. Preceded in death by parents, Russell and Beverly and sister Shelly. Survived by loving wife Jaklyn of 44 years; children Tyler (Emily) Greenleaf, Allan (Stephanie) Woodstrom, and Leah (Milan) Milojevic; and 6 grandchildren Grover, Monty, Bennett, Davis, Sebastian and Milena; siblings Susan (Karen) Stephanie (Steven), Paula (Donald), and Stephen (Debbie) as well as many other relatives and friends. 

Russell was born and raised in Moorhead, MN. Russell was caring, humble, independent, and fun-loving. A nurse for 37 years working in multiple healthcare facilities. He spent his last 23 years serving veterans at Minneapolis VA Medical Center . He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing basketball, coaching youth sports, researching and planning family trips, listening to music and attending concerts. He loved creative writing and spending time with family. Russ loved being outdoors and soaking up the sun while biking around the Minneapolis lakes.  

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024 with visitation at 10am, funeral service 11am and luncheon to follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S. Mpls, MN.Interment Lakewood Cemetery,3600 Hennepin Ave, Mpls, MN.  Consider donations in memory of Russell to: Special Olympics Minnesota or Fisher House Foundation of Minnesota.
