It is with a heavy heart that I write following the sad news of Dan's passing.
We had the pleasure of only a few moments with Dan and each one of them he truly personified the embodiment of a wonderful soul. He was indeed a manifestation of love and care that is rare to find. His nurturing nature made everyone feel important, cherished, and very much a part of his family. He radiated warmth and understanding in a way that made us feel safe and comforted.
With every story he shared, every laugh he provoked, he etched his memory profoundly onto the hearts of all those he encountered. His kindness was contagious, and his genial demeanor made everyone around him feel comfortable and valued.
His presence will be sorely missed, it leaves a void that can never be filled. Our families’ deepest condolences go out to the entire Carle family. Julie and Abraham thank you for sharing your wonderful father with us, it was a blessing. May the love he shared provide you the strength during this difficult time and may his memory live eternally within our hearts.
Heartfelt sympathies,
Shary and Darcy

I’m so happy to know more about Dan and his remarkable life. I only met him once, when Mary Kay‘s bus to a gathering didn’t work out and he drove her. I was so impressed by his graciousness in doing that, and by his Countenance. And by the love Mary Kay, whom I love dearly, expressed for him so frequently. What a guy.

We share your sadness, Mary Kay and family. Dan's smiles, gentle, compassionate manner, and kindness stay with us from the years ago when our friendship was young. His love for the earth, the lakes - and the Big Lake - inspired us, as did his caring. And in the sadness and grief, we trust you will be lifted and comforted by the memories of a good, good man.
Peace and Love and a poem,
Warren and Jackie Bradbury
The Avowal by Denise Levertov
As swimmers dare
to lie face to the sky
and water bears them,
as hawks rest upon air
and air sustains them,
so would I learn to attain
free fall, and float
into Creator Spirit’s deep embrace,
knowing no effort earns
that all-surrounding grace.

I am so sorry to hear this. We are two of the many people whom his guidance saved. He saved more than a marriage, he saved us from disintegrating as humans. The words he said stay with me and I tell them to others. For example what does it mean to “take care”. And when a couple are too close there is no I and you, so we can’t say “I love you”. That there is a life preserver built for one for each of us. That when he was nervous about a presentation, he jumped into the lap of an elderly lady in the front row. That it’s not ok to be a “white knight”. That the most dangerous animal is the croci-gator because with a head at each end where does it*&*(*??? Thank you, Dan for everything, and to you too, Mary Lay, for being his lovely steady force of nature. He loved you dearly and said so. When I turned red in sessions he asked my husband—why aren’t you reacting too, where is the balance? And he alone could open my husband to counseling by having him write poetry. He said schizophrenia was a Polish word (when I was diagnosed with it, and I am not10 He threw stuffed animals at me to keep me from over-talking, ALL in good humor. When later in life we came back to him for more counseling he said to us, oh come on, you two know what to do, go home and work on it.. he treated us with love, which was novel in our experience with so many professionals. He made the difference in our lives. We thought the world of Dan, and I woke up this morning feeling something was wrong with him, only to find this obituary saying he died one week earlier. So sorry, but his memory is lasting.
