Obituary of Michael Joseph Fontana

Michael Joseph Fontana of Maple Grove, Minnesota beloved son, brother, uncle, and partner unexpectedly, but peacefully passed away at home February 27, 2024 at the age of 66.

Michael is survived by his lifelong friend and partner in life Leon Barsody, his Mother Rosemary McKie, Sister Sharon Powers, Nephews Adam (Jamie) Powers & Family and Blake Powers. Sister Nancy Fontana-Gehring (Greg) and many friends. Michael was preceded in death by his Father Joeseph W. Fontana, Stepfather Edward T. McKie, beloved cats Evelyn, Melvin, and Buff Buff, Grandparents Joseph & Giacoma Fontana and Gilbert & Ruth Uhl.

Mike was a dedicated health care administrator who devoted over 30 years of his life to helping patients with their caregiving needs. Mike was blessed with a genius IQ, photographic memory, a beautiful singing voice, and the ability to play piano and guitar by ear.

Mike will be remembered for his ability to bring laughter & joy to those around him. He had a gift for making people laugh and for finding humor in everyday moments. Whether through a witty remark or a kind gesture Mike had a way of brightening the lives of all who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Join us to celebrate Mike’s life on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Joseph the Worker Church Chapel, 7180 Hemlock Lane, Maple Grove. Fellowship at 11am followed by the service at 11:30 with a luncheon immediately afterwards.
