Obituary of Nona Corrine Whelan

NONA CORRINE WHELAN

March 19, 1943 to March 4, 2024

Nona Corrine Whelan passed away at the age of 80 on March 4, 2024 after battling C.O.P.D. for over 30 years. She is survived by her two sons, Christopher (Theresa) and Jeffrey; sister, Gayla (Robert) Carlson; brothers Arvin (Corrine) Grove, Eldon Grove; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Nona was born in Rugby, North Dakota to Bernick and Josephine Grove. She grew up with four brothers and three sisters. Nona graduated from Rugby High School in 1961. She moved to Minneapolis in the mid-1960s where she met her future husband, Jerry. Over the course of their 48 years together, Nona and Jerry built and ran several businesses until Jerry’s death in 2019.

Nona was a loving, caring and supportive person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We will be celebrating Nona’s life on Saturday, April 20th. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. So., Edina. Visitation at 10 a.m.
