Obituary of Ronald W. Fitzsimmons

Ronald W. Fitzsimmons passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 93.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Janice (nee Fields) and his parents Everett and Bernice (nee Grignon) Fitzsimmons. Survived by son, Mark (Jeannine) Fitzsimmons and daughter, Denise (Wade) Herschberger, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was born and raised in Duluth MN. He served in the U.S. Army 1947 - 1948. After which he worked for a short time at the Minnesota Veterans Home as an orderly. He then took a job as tree trimmer for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board where he became a forestry foreman and retired after 30 years. The following 22 years he worked part time driving school bus for Saint Paul and Suburban Bus Company. An open house will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55409 on Thursday, April 11, 2024, 2 to 4 pm. Interment to follow at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org).
