Obituary of Druanne Blackmore Sweetser

DRUANNE BLACKMORE SWEETSER (Mar 22, 1923 - April 3, 2024) died in her apartment at the Kenwood Retirement Community in Minneapolis, MN. Dru was a long-time Minnesota educator and advocate for children with learning disabilities. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, she grew up in California but settled in Minneapolis to raise her own children and work. Preceded in death by her husband, John Anderson Sweetser III, and her sister, Katherine Blackmore Chaffee. She is survived by four children; Seth, Eve (Alex Madonik), Kate, and Maria (Dana Dlott); and by her grandson David Morris Dlott. No memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Minnesota Public Radio or the Democratic National Campaign Committee. The family wishes to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff, the Kenwood staff, and the Home Care Services staff for all their kind efforts and care on our mother's behalf.
