Obituary of Wayne S. Hall
Wayne S. Hall, (85) of Cambridge MN, passed away early March 31st, 2024, at the Cardiac unit of Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
He was born October 23rd, 1938, in Mason City Iowa to Hazar and Elaine Hall. He grew up on a family farm near the Winnebago River where he spent his childhood fishing, trapping, and hunting, which remained his passion throughout his life. He attended a one room schoolhouse, riding his horse to school, with his gun so as not to miss a hunting opportunity on the way there or back. He then leaned his gun in the corner of the school room trying to concentrate on his schoolwork, but mostly just gazing out the window. He graduated from Hanlontown high school. He went on to get an associate degree at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. He pursued a career in the insurance business and furthered his education in that field for 40+ years.
He married Marilyn Phillips, who lived just down the road from his family farm, on June 3rd , 1962. They had 3 children and after living near Chicago and then Minneapolis, they settled on their own farm in Isanti, MN. The family enjoyed traveling and camping together and spending time at the family lake cabin in the Northwoods of MN. They spent their winters in a sleepy town in Mexico. He was an avid reader, flipper of houses and loved to lose money at cribbage.
Wayne is survived by wife Marilyn Hall, daughter Sarah and Dan Baxter, son Matthew and Pablo Bolanos-Hall and son Stephen and Wendy Hall. 7 Grandchildren; Andy Hobday, Adam and Jill Baxter, Amy Hobday, Claire and Micah Brady, Sadie Baxter, Anders Baxter and Henry Baxter. He is also survived by sister Marilyn and Butch Niemi as well as many nephews and nieces. Also, his beloved dog, Lucy, which was the love of his life.
There will be a celebration of life at the cabin on the shores of Tom Lake this summer.
