Obituary of Carl Eugene Markus
Carl Eugene Markus passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by family.
He was born in to Viola and Frank Markus in Duluth on August 29, 1940.
Carl had a great sense of humor, and loved to tease everyone he came into contact with. He was passionate about woodworking, furniture making, and was a master at Intarsia, frequently gifting amazing works of art to those he loved. He loved fishing, keeping the local squirrel population down, going for walks, riding motorcycle and keeping busy in his garages.
He had the most amazing Dinnerplate Dalia garden. He collected vases so he could share bouquets with the ladies at the Miller Trunk Dental and family and friends. His vegetable gardens provided stock for canning, which he loved to do with his kids.
Carl was proceeded in death by his parents, Viola and Frank Markus, his brother Larry Frank Markus, and sister Delores Paglusch.
He is survived by his daughter Penny (Jeff) Tarvas, Eveleth, Terri (Philip Nigh) Markus-Morneau, Duluth, and Larry Carl (Cindy Olson) Markus, Duluth. His siblings Bill Markus, Barb Adolfs, Brenda Lampi and four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Carl did not want a funeral, but a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 27 from 11:00-3:00, at the Pike Lake Event Center, 4895 Midway Road, Duluth, MN 55811.
