Obituary of Robert Henry Samuelson
Robert “Buck” Samuelson peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 just shy of his 91st birthday. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Buck was preceded in death by his wife Gerri, his daughter Kristin Warn, his sister Dorothy Norum, and his dear companion Linda Bliss. He is survived by his daughter Kari Samuelson and son-in-law Michael Yasis, granddaughter Brita Bliss, grandson Samuel Bliss and his wife Bianca Bliss, sister Ruth Herbst, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Buck was born on March 29, 1933 to Henry and Inga Samuelson on their farm in Starbuck, Minnesota. After high school, he moved to Minneapolis where he began his career working for the telephone company. Soon after, he was drafted and joined the Navy to serve as a signalman on the naval ship the U.S.S. Arcadia during the Korean War. In 1956 he was honorably discharged and went back to his job in residential and commercial phone installation.
Buck was especially skilled at being a handyman. He served so many family members, friends, and neighbors with his willingness to help with any project, big or small. He’d gently offer advice and would accompany that with hands-on help whenever needed. He was a project partner and teacher to many.
Later in life, Buck found his passion for collecting toy tractors, anvils, and anything with his favorite character, Snoopy! His treasure hunting connected him to many new friends and kept him busy up to just a month or so before he passed.
Buck will be remembered for his kindness and his tender heart.
