Heather Michaelis, age 50, passed to eternal life on March 5th, 2024. She followed the passing of her husband Jeffrey Michaelis on March 3rd, 2024. They lived in Bloomington, MN.

Heather was born in Wausau, WI. Graduated from Menasha High School and the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. For the past 20 years, she was employed by the TSA at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport.

She is survived by her parents Paul and Patricia Olmstead, Siblings Scott (Joann), Molly (Lyle), Catherine (Harlan), Brother -in law Tom (Lisa), 11 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. Her maternal and paternal grandparents preceded her in death, several aunts, uncles, and cousins preceded her in death.

Most importantly, the love and light of her life, her husband Jeffrey preceded her in death on March 3rd, 2024.

Jeff and Heather married privately in Hawaii on October 16th, sharing the same wedding date as Heather’s parents who were present as witnesses to their union. They had the novel experience of earthquakes and Tsunami warnings while there.

She was a gifted artist and enjoyed travel, seeing Sweden, Costa Rica, Panama, and Montana among many other places. She loved adventures like hang gliding, scuba diving, visiting with family and friends, and her pet dogs. Jeff and Heather were philanthropists in small ways, focusing on donating to charitable causes and fund raising for cancer organizations, especially for children. She remained supportive of her friends and family, offering mentorship while fighting her own battles, including multiple years of treatment for melanoma cancer. Close to home, she had interests in gardening, bird watching, cello, reading, movies and finding the best gifts for other people. She was a good cook and would enjoy finding creative ideas in her recipes and ingredients.

A celebration of life service will be held to honor Jeff and Heather at the Bloomington Fireman’s Softball Tournament, an event they attended together every summer.  The family welcomes all who wish to join in sharing memories.
