Obituary of Robert E. Smith

Age 83, passed away on May 21, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Henrietta and Roy; brother, Harold. Survived by loving wife, Connie; children, Steven (Susan) Smith, Cheryl Smith, and David (Linda) Smith; grandchildren, Bobby (Cassandra) Smith, Megan (Daniel) Thurston, and Michael (Ashley) Smith; three great grandsons, Niko, Dom, Braeden; sister, Evelyn (Lawrence) Worm; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert served his country honorably during the Korean War and retired after 30 years of service with the Minneapolis Public Library System. The family wants to give special recognition to the wonderful staff—both current and former—at the Minneapolis VA Adult Day Health Program and the caring home health aides from Fairview Home Health. Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis North. Reception starting at 3 PM, with celebratory program at 4 PM, with dinner to follow. Private interment on Monday June 6, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Research-CMA 651-254-2743, Minneapolis VA Voluntary Services 612-467-2050; donors can select from a number of accounts including: Veterans Emergency Needs Fund, Homeless Veterans Assistance Fund, and Fisher House Fund, or donor’s choice.
