Carol Lynn Lewerenz passed away March 8, 2024, at the age of 80. Carol’s celebration of life with be held March 22, 2024, at Living Hope Church, 1450 237th Ave NE, East Bethel, MN. A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m. with a light luncheon to follow.

Carol was born August 17, 1943, in Litchfield, Minnesota, to William and Doris (Peters) Burdick. She was the fourth of five children.

Carol attended the Litchfield schools and played clarinet in the marching band as well as the concert band for which she earned her letter. She graduated in 1961 and went on to St. Cloud Beauty College. After completing the program in 1962, she returned to Litchfield and began working at Curly Locks salon. She really enjoyed coloring hair.

In 1963, she met Gary Lewerenz. They were married in 1964 and moved to Anoka, Minnesota. They welcomed their first child, David, in February of 1965. Michael was born is January of 1968. They decided to purchase their first home in the rural city of Cedar. Carol enjoyed gardening and raising her boys. In June of 1976, Amy was born. They had outgrown their first home and moved to a home in Oak Grove Township.

Carol and family began attending St. Francis United Methodist Church. It was here that she found the Lord, and on June 21, 1973, she gave her life to Jesus.

Carol worked for White Gloves Cleaning Company and eventually, with her neighbor and friend, they started their own cleaning business. After many years of house cleaning, Carol decided she needed to do something else. She began working at Coon Rapids Medical Center in the records department. It was here she made many valuable friendships. Some of her favorite times were getting together with her “Red Hat Ladies”.

Carol retired in 2009 and began her favorite full-time job, grandma. She spent many days enjoying time with her grandchildren.

Carol attended River of Life Church in St. Francis for many years until the building burned down. She began attending River of Life Church in Elk River and enjoyed the new friendships she made there. She began attending Living Hope Church in St. Francis when the drive to Elk River was too difficult in the winter. She, again, was so grateful for the friendships she found there. She knew that God had led her to Living Hope.

Carol loved to spend time in God’s Word, and Bible studies were some of her favorite. She was hungry for anything God wanted to teach her. Carol was a prayer warrior and prayed often for anyone that she felt God laid on her heart. If she heard of someone needing prayer, whether she knew them or not, she was praying for them and their situation.

Carol resided in her home in Oak Grove until failing health required her to move in with her daughter in Ham Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents; and her sister, Delores.

She is survived by her siblings, Barb O’Hair, JoAnn (Lyle) Nelson, and Gordon (Mary) Burdick; her children, David (Lana) Lewerenz, Michael (Barb) Lewerenz, and Amy (Jeremi) Gaffey; grandchildren, Jennifer Coots, Lexi (Riley) Rognstad, Josiah Lewerenz, Isabel Gaffey, Joel Gaffey, Addison Lewerenz, Daniel Gaffey and Jonathan Gaffey. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Abrianna French, Keaten French, Emilee Coots, and Micah Coots.
