Obituary of Barbara Joan Hossalla

Barbara Joan Dower Hossalla, age 90, passed away March 9, 2024 at Solvay Hospice House. She was born May 5, 1933 to Bernard and Berenice (Christie) Dower in Superior, WI. Barbara started her lifelong career in the stock market business in 1963 at Piper Jaffray & Hopwood as a Ticker Tape Clerk and ended as a Sales Assistant in 2005 at Paine Webber. She absolutely loved her job. She was adored by all who knew her as she was often called a "hoot".  A feisty little lady, she loved to "shop until she dropped" and had a love for bowling in her younger days and was also a huge football fan. She doted on her grandchildren and was the life of any party.  Barb was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Diane Trevena, grandson Trevor Trevena, and son-in-law Billy Franze. She is survived by daughters Linda (Patrick) Brophy, Lisa (David) Mlakar, granddaughters Tara (Jeffrey) Johnson, Jessica (Joseph) Bottensek, grandson Christian Franze, great-grandchildren Fayth, Cooper, Hudson, and Chloe, sisters Mary Lou (Dennis) Telega, Kathleen (the late Ronald) Bauers, brother William (Darlene) Dower, and several nieces and nephews.  At Barbara's request, there will be no service.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to Solvay Hospice House, 801 Baylis St., Duluth, MN 55811.
