Obituary of Dorothy Eleanore Wiecher
Wiecher, Dorothy Eleanore (Engebretson),
Age 94 of Richfield, passed away peacefully February 21st, 2024. Dorothy was born December 24, 1929 in Starbuck Minnesota to Edwin and Oline Engebretson (Ronnei). She was baptized, confirmed and later married in St. John’s Lutheran church. After graduating from Starbuck High school, she went through nurses training at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. While in Minneapolis she met Donald Edward Wiecher and they were married after her graduation on June 30th, 1951. They moved to Richfield in 1956 where they built their home. They remained there until their move to The Pines in 2019. Dorothy worked at Fairview hospital until Fairview Southdale was built then transferred there. She is survived by her two children, Mark (Jane) Wiecher of Bloomington, and Kathleen (Dwight) Lewis of Lakeville, as well as eight grandchildren, Sam (Kelly) Salseg, Jenna (Aaron) Johnson, Jennifer (John)Herman, Tony (Chrissy) Salseg, Andrew (Kate) Wiecher, Neil Dobos, Rachel (Jake) Hauser, and Jessica (Darin) Hrabe. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, two brothers, Oliver and Walter, and sister Marie. Dorothy was a longtime member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield, where she was involved in bible studies, and also served on the alter guild… her Celebration of Life service will be held there on Monday April 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior. Private family burial the following day at Ft. Snelling.
