Obituary of Jeanne Ann Hansen

Jeanne A. Hansen, 93, of Duluth passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024.  She was born March 5, 1930 to Iver and Hulda (Hultquist) Ross in Duluth, MN. Jeanne graduated from Denfeld High School in 1947. After graduation, she went to work for T.E. Halford & Co. then for Allen Young, DDS and then Gary Madison, DDS.  She retired in 2001. Jeanne was a proud “west ender” and lived on the same block in the Lincoln Park area for 87 years.  She was a lifetime member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church.  

Jeanne married Art Hansen on July 31, 1954, and they were happily married for 63 years until his passing in 2017. They raised a daughter and a son together.  Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working, reading mystery novels, watching Perry Mason or a Western, baking cookies, and hosting dinner parties.  She was always willing to pitch in to help others. Jeanne was a snappy dresser and no look was complete without her signature red lipstick and styled hairdo.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arnold, sister Shirley, and her best friend and husband, Art.  She leaves behind to treasure her memory:  daughter Kim (Jim) Stein, son Kevin (Sheila) Hansen, grandchildren: Ana Hansen, Paige Stein, Kelly Stein, and Erin (Shawn) Stein Phillips, great grandchildren: Dillon and Ethan Phillips and Charlotte Stein, cousin, Duane (Shirley) Hultquist, and dear friend for over 80 years, Gerri Aro.
