Obituary of Amorita Cole

Amorita (Johnson, Van der Haeghen) Cole passed away Feb. 9, 2024 at the age of 86 years young.

Amorita Ann was born to Gustaf & Mercedes Johnson on Aug. 18, 1937 in Chicago, IL. Amy was married to Rene’ Van der Haeghen (d. 2007) for 13 yrs. and then to David Cole (d. 2006) for 36 yrs. She was deeply devoted to her very large close-knit family.

She will be dearly missed by her brother Butch (Madryn) Johnson & Family, sister Lesley (Mike) Johnson & Family and her children; Duke (BJ) Van der Haeghen, Stacy Simpson, Christine (Phil) Wilson, Julia (Mark) Smith, Susan (Jim) Sochko and Scott (Tawnya) Van der Haeghen, as well as 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Amy worked for Hennepin County as an MIS Specialist for 26 years (ret. 1999). She moved from Minneapolis to Balsam Lake, WI (1980-2006), then to St. Croix Falls, WI (2006-2019), where she thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the giftshop at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. She then moved to Edina, MN (2019-2024).

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Cremation Society of MN in Edina (7110 France Ave S) on Sat., April 27th: 10 AM Visitation, 11 AM Service and luncheon to follow.
