Obituary of Ronald Joseph Bauers

Ronald Joseph Bauers passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 2, 2024, with his family by his side.

Ron was born in Duluth, Minnesota on March 2, 1936, to Leonard and Margaret Bauers.  He was the youngest of seven children.  Ron graduated from Denfeld High School in 1954, where he was a member of the Ski Jumping Team.  Shortly after high school, Ron joined the US Air Force and was stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 1959, Ron met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Dower. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children, Jill, Gary, and Amy.  Ron’s parents instilled in him the values of love, compassion, and hard work that he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Throughout his life, Ron cherished his family above all else.

Ron worked most of his career with the City of Duluth, Water and Gas Dept. and the City Treasurer’s Dept., retiring in 1999.

Ron enjoyed woodworking, bowling, fishing, golf, riding his bicycle and cruising around town on his Harley.  Ron’s favorite retirement activity was going to the casino.  Ron was the lucky winner of a red Ford Mustang Convertible at Grand Casino Hinckley.

Ron loved spending time with his family.  He attended all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, plays and activities.  Ron was always early for everything, and at most games arrived before the players!

Ron loved to tell stories and always had a story to share.  Maybe you’ve heard some of his favorites more than once or twice.

Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kay, his children, Jill (Gary) Anderson, Gary (Renee) Bauers, Amy (Tim) Lussier, his grandchildren, Sara (John) McKone, Derek (Kelsey) Schubert, Kevin (Jena Marsyla) Schubert, Tyler (Lyndsay Burud) Schubert, Megan (Nathan) Yolitz, Jamie (Devin Gosse) Anderson, Zachery (Alyssa) Bauers, Allie (Logan) Talarico, Cody and Kyle Heikes and Zarya and Carter Lussier, 12 Great-Grandchildren plus Baby Boy Schubert expected to arrive  in July, and an AFS foreign exchange student, Firdevs (John) Robinson and her children, Tom and Tim (Ellina) Robinson.

Ron lived a full life and touched so many along the way.  He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends and all who knew him.  May he rest in eternal peace.
