Mary Beth, Erica, David, Forrest and Everett,
May you find peace and strength in memories of your Husband, Father and Grandfather.
I recall the first time I met Jon I could tell he was a kind and gentle man albeit very quiet.
Jon was one of the most knowledgeable person I ever met as I will truly miss our conversations regarding his travels
among many other topics. Jon was a very strong believer of our savior lord Jesus Christ and had the knowledge of reciting
any chapter or verse in the bible.
Another one of Jon's attributes was his knowledge of the medical field, he could talk a about various Illnesses, possible causes
and treatments including his own Illness. Last year we talked about his Illness when he stated I am not afraid of dying
he knew he was going to be with Jesus.
Jon called me the day before he passed to inform me his DR. told him to prepare for the end of life. We had a nice conversation
again he said he was going to be with Jesus, little did I know he would pass away the following day.
My dearest brother-in-law Jon, it was an honor to have known you and will be truly missed.
Love you Jon,
Pat

I miss you Jon…. you’re an amazing friend, gentle, kind, humble and SMART, with such a love for the Lord, His Word and life… thank you for growing my passion for the Lord, through your teaching and stories. Even in your last breaths, you were sharing God‘s Word and the Greek translation of a word in that scripture.
You truly loved God and others as yourself♥️
Mary, David, Erica, family and friends, you are all in my prayers and thoughts, I am so very sorry for your loss, may you grieve with HOPE ➕.

He was a man who loved his Lord and found exploring the depths of HIS goodness and creative wonders a life-long adventure. His life was a kaleidoscope of curiosity and ministry in various forms.
We praise Him that “Hogie” was faithful to the calling the Lord gave him. He was a living mentor for many. It was a joy to be able to be a small part of his life over the decades. He was a true friend despite distance!
“Hogie” went from life to LIFE because Jesus lives!

Aunt Mary Beth, David and Erica, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Jon was the most interesting person to sit and talk with. As I got older I truly appreciated the one on one discussions we would have. I don't think there was anything he didn't know about. I've never met someone who knew so much about so many topics. Family was important to him and I know you all taught him what family and love meant. I will cherish the talks we had and advice he would give. Love, Melissa

I remember the first time I met Uncle Jon. I was so glad he was cute as I thought Aunt Marybeth’s previous boyfriend's were ugly. Lol!
I gave him a hug and he stiffened up. Being so young, I didn’t realize not everyone comes from a family that hugs when greeted.
Years later, Uncle Jon told me because of that hug, I was one of the first people to make him feel welcome in the Maranda family. Kinda made our bond special.
I've been reminiscing about Uncle Jon, the conversations we've had and a trip him, Aunt Marybeth, my sister Jenny and I all took.
Jenny and I flew on our first plane ride to California to help Aunt Marybeth and Uncle Jon move from California back to Minnesota.
Uncle Jon called it the stupid state and everything that went wrong we blamed it on the stupid state.
We laughed and made more jokes when I moved to the stupid state in 1994!
I’ve included some pics from our trip to Cali.
One being, Sunday June 15, 1986. We hiked to the top of a mountain and burnt to a crisp. It was nicknamed the day of the sunburn!
It was such a memorable trip with a favorite uncle!
I will always cherish our conversations, the vast knowledge I learned from him and our memories! He will be missed!

Jon had the most beautiful mind, and shared his life long learning and experiences of God, Jesus, and the Bible. I had the greatest experience spending a week with Jon and Mary Beth, in Florida. To me, not only was it fun spending time with my sister and brother-in-law, but learning a deeper understanding of God's Word. When I left Florida I felt like I had been on a week long spiritual journey. Jon was a blessing to so many of us.

Mary Beth, David and Erica, May you find peace in memories of Jon and your dad.
To a dear brother in law. Jon, you had so much knowledge and were always willing to share. I remember one of our talks we had and I told you how I wish I had the brain to take in all that you knew and retain it. He said to me, we all have different qualities and then told me how much how he envied me and why which never occurred to me. That was just the way he was, making you feel special and "smart" He loved our family like his own and made sure we knew that.
Joh, you were there to help me when I needed and give me direction whenever I asked. You will be greatly missed and you were the best darn Thai food cook I know.
Love you Jon,
Colleen
