Jim passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 succumbing to the complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 1, 1944 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was a proud graduate of Washington High School and Augustana College in his hometown. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue higher education, earning a Masters's Degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and later obtaining his MBA from the University of South Dakota.
Throughout his career, Jim held various positions with Minnesota companies such as Malt-O Meal, Land O'Lakes, and 3M. His passion for education extended beyond his professional endeavors, as he found joy in teaching computer science to students both locally and internationally. He fostered connections in Germany, where he taught seminars and courses as well as serving as a full-time professor at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
Jim shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Roz, with whom he embarked on countless adventures across Europe and the United States. Their travels were enriched by visits to family scattered across different locations. Jim is survived by his son Chad, daughter-in-law Malaika, and cherished granddaughters Madison and Siena. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jerry and Don who undoubtedly welcomed him into the next chapter with open arms.
In addition to his passion for travel, Jim had a lifelong dedication to education and its importance in shaping lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jim's memory to any education-related organization of choice. A gathering to celebrate his remarkable life will be arranged at a later date, allowing friends and loved ones to honor his legacy and share fond memories.
