Obituary of Harold LaPlante

Harold LaPlante (92) died Feb. 8, 2024 in Duluth. He was born Jan. 23, 1932 in Litchfield, MN to Rose (Vacek) and Victor LaPlante. Harold graduated from Litchfield in 1949. He married Mary Lou Adamek in 1957. They lived on their farm near Darwin, MN for 10 years. After that he began working for J.C. Penney and was transferred to Duluth where he spent nearly 50 years greeting and becoming friends with many shoppers.

He grew up on a farm that bordered a lake where he mastered the art of fishing. He went to Alaska, the West Coast and Canada where he was supplied with many fish stories.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Lou and their 4 children Ed (Jo Ann), Mark, Teri (Denny Barwald who passed 2 days before Harold), Lisa Kuberra (Mike) 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
