Obituary of Paul Arnold Johnson
Paul Arnold Johnson, 4/10/1930 of Lake Amnicon, Wi. died on 1/18/2024 at the age of 93.
A product of the Duluth school system, he graduated from U.M.D., where he served as president of his fraternity and chair of the inter fraternity/sorority council. A talented pianist, he gave his recital at Tweed Hall on march 1946, and later performed with many of the top local bands in the area including the Duluth Symphony Orchestra and also with Nat King Cole!
He was an officer in the Air Force, touring France and Germany. His career was in the personal insurance field, specializing for many years in quality deferred compensation. A conservationist, hunter, and fisherman, he was most happy with his contribution in preserving the south shore of Amnicon Lake and preventing an extremally costly and unnecessary waste water system from being installed around Amnicon and Dowling lakes. So many people have never experienced the joy of having a “true best friend” Paul was blessed in having two: His loving wife Anja “the best thing that ever happened to me” and Bruce A. Halverson, Sr, “If its to be, its up to me”.
He was preceded in death by his sister Beryl Anderson and daughter Elizabeth Arnold and is survived by wife Anja, children Vicky Maher, Mark Hubbard, Kris Johnson and Bruce Johnson and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
It was Paul’s wish that there be no services. He will be dearly missed.
