Obituary of Mathilda Rose Budimir
Mathilda R. Budimir “Matsa” 99 of Duluth died Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 in Scandia Assisted Living.
She was born in Duluth, MN on Oct. 23, 1924 to Marijan and Kata Budimir. She was a life-long Duluth resident. She graduated from Morgan Park High School, worked at Denfeld Cleaners, Garon Knitting Mills, and Lighthouse for the Blind.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church and was a previous member of Slovenian Women’s Union Branch 33. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, bowling, and golf. She lived a long life and was mentally sharp and witty to the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen, brothers John, Mike, Anthony, Robert, and Stephen. Sisters-in-law Doris and Shirley. Brothers-in-law Laverne Walters and James Clark.
She is survived by sisters Mary Walters and Katheryne Clark, brothers Frank (Renee), Daniel (Alice), sister-in-law Valerie Budimir, many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Scandia for the kindness and care and friendship they gave to Mathilda during her time there.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Arrangements by First Memorial Funeral Chapel, Duluth, MN.
