Paul Einer Hansen

September 4, 1940 - January 27, 2024

Our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather, Paul Einer Hansen, passed away at Hennepin County Medical Center on Saturday, January 27th, 2024. 

Born on September 4, 1940, Paul was the youngest child of four of Einer Hansen and Virginia Hansen (Whipple) and grew up on their hobby farm in Minnetonka Mills. He was a hard working enthusiast who spent his professional career in the automotive industry - as co-captain and captain of West Richfield’s Hansen’s Auto Spa - balanced with a rich family life full of love, hobbies, travel and nature. After graduating Hopkins High School in 1958, Paul married Anne (Annie) Marie Monten in 1965 and shortly after settled in a nice little east Richfield home. While raising their children, Paul served in the National Guard and was an active member of the Shriners. Paul and Annie were active members of Oak Grove Lutheran Church from the mid-60’s (they were wed there) until the late 1990s when they relocated to a new home after selling the ‘Spa’. 

Their new home was built for them by their son, Erik - near the city of Mora, Minnesota. Christened ‘Swedehaven’ after Annie’s ancestry, the house is situated on 40 private wooded acres bordering the Snake River. Paul loved his country life and was able to reside there into the fall of 2023. Following the passing of his beloved Annie in early summer of 2023, Paul’s Alzheimer’s condition accelerated, and in the late fall, he moved to Minneapolis to live with family.

Paul is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Anne Marie, his parents, Einer and Virginia; and brother Roger. He is survived by his loving sisters, Beverly and Meredith; his children Daniel (Shannon), Erik (Mandy), and Maren; his grandchildren Genevieve, Jerzy, Birch, Maxwell, Natty, and Raina; and his great grandson, Theodore. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 11:00 am at Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 7045 Lyndale Avenue South in Richfield. Lunch will be served at the church following the service.
