I grew up with Brian, halfway between Anoka and Minneapolis, back before nourishing your child's inner life was much of a thing. Like the kids in the Springsteen song 'The River' we would go down to the gully along the Mississippi for adventure, to overcome boredom and to dream our lives after high school. Back in the 60s the Coon Rapids Dam generated hydroelectricity for NSP and you weren't allowed to cross it. Shortly after we graduated high school the dam was donated to the Hennepin County Park Reserve and began its unlikely transformation into a lovely park and picnic spot. Where once we were two illegal intruders there are now walking trails, benches and a visitors center. Last November Brian and I took our last walk at the dam. It was the spot of so much of our youth but we had come so far. I knew I wouldn't see Brian again. But I know he finally made it to the other side. Enjoy the view my friend. I'll come back to visit you often.

Brian made a profound impact from his healing work with me and over half my very large family. His relationship with us changed our lives! We feel deeply saddened by the loss of his physical presence. Love goes out to his family at this time.
Gratitude beyond words, Shirley Engelmeier Mangan
