Obituary of Dale Ames
Dale Ames, Wayzata resident, 85, died on Memorial Day, May 30, at Methodist Park Nicollet Hospital in St. Louis Park. Dale was born on Jan. 5, 1931, the son of Lloyd and Ethel (Long) Ames on a farm outside of Swaledale, Iowa. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany in the early '50s, he moved to Forest City, Iowa where he was involved in sales and ownership of a furniture store. In the mid-1980s, he moved to Wayzata, where he worked for the John and Sue Morrison family. He retired in 2001. He was a member of American Legion Post 118 in Wayzata. Dale is survived by his son Joe (Linda) of Irvine, CA, daughters Jean of New Hope and Anne (Tom) of Minneapolis, grandchildren Tony (Sharayah), Callie, Mitchell, Shannon, Jack and Paul, great grandson Carter, brothers Roger, Bill and Jerry and sister Barb. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Charlotte and Gladys and brothers Robert and Francis. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 2 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 11 a.m. (doors open at 10 a.m.) at 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
