Obituary of Nancy Ann Broz
Nancy Ann (Simonson) Broz, age 85, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, entered eternal life on January 12, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 29, 1938 to Clifford and Lillian (Knarreborg) Simonson. She attended school in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1956. She was active in her youth and enjoyed water skiing and golfing.
On September 6, 1958 she married Jim Broz, from Richfield, MN. They initially met at the MN state high school basketball tournament at Williams Arena in 1956. In their early years, they enjoyed traveling, camping and hiking. In their later years they enjoyed summers at their lake home on Lake Carlos, winters in Florida and simply being together. Nancy and Jim were blessed with three daughters, Julie, Cindy and Jeanne. Nancy treasured her work as a stay-at-home mom, but in 1975 began courses towards her Bachelor of Science in Business degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of MN. She graduated in 1978. She worked as a marketing coordinator for a consulting engineering firm and eventually worked in Human Resources.
Nancy and Jim shared a love of music and sports. They attended Gopher games, North Star hockey games and Twins games. She enjoyed live music from a variety of genres which included artists ranging from Willie Nelson to Luciano Pavarotti. Nancy was Jim’s top advisor during his tenure at Williams Sound Corp. Nancy was full of life and passionate about her family. One of her many gifts was showing her love through her delicious cooking! Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. In her last months of life, when family said “I love you,” she responded with, “I love you more.” Nancy courageously fought breast cancer for five years. She died peacefully, surrounded by family at Little Hospice in Edina, MN. We are grateful for the tender, loving, quality care she received.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jim of 65 years; Julie (Ted) Maro of Prior Lake, MN; Cindy (Tom) Housewright of Savage, MN; Jeanne (Gregg) Aamot of Victoria, MN; grandchildren Jenny Sheriff of Kansas City, MO; Jim (Darcy) Holter of Carver, MN; Natalie (Andrew) Graff of Minneapolis, MN; Manny Aamot of Victoria; great-grandchildren Emry and Bryn Sheriff of Kansas City, MO; cherished sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends . . . She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on February 15, 2024 at 3pm, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN (www.standrewlu.org). In lieu of flowers memorials to www.Littlehospice.org
