Obituary of Lee Edward Stensland
On the morning of January 16, 2024 Lee Edward Stensland, 84, of Minnetonka passed away. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay, in October of 2017. They shared 57 years of marriage before her passing.
Born in California to parents Bernice and Marshall, Lee graduated from West High School in Minneapolis. He played football at Hamline University and served in the Air National Guard. He and Gay married and settled down in Minneapolis where they raised their two sons.
Lee loved spending time with his family. His summers were spent at Star Lake, fishing, golfing and playing cards. In the Hayward Lakes area, Lee could be found relaxing, pontooning and enjoying a cool beverage at his favorite Seamans Resort. Lee was an avid golfer and enjoyed volunteering at many professional tournaments here in the Twin Cities.
When the Minnesotan winters rolled around, Lee would travel to Destin, FL to enjoy the sunny beaches and golf the beautiful courses in the area. Lee and Gay sailed many seas in the Caribbean over the years as well, with family and friends.
His grandchildren were a source of joy and he attended whatever events he could. From rowing competitions, football games, and volleyball games to choir concerts and plays, Lee could be seen enjoying every single minute. He always had a kind word to say, a gift to give or a funny joke to crack.
Lee is survived by his older brother Allen (Mary Lou), sister-in-law Donna Harriman, sons Scott (Kelli) and Jeffrey (Debra), grandchildren Woodrow (Courtney), Annika and Erika, and great granddaughter Josephine.
Lee's friends are invited to stop by anytime between 11 am and 2 pm to celebrate his beautiful life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in his community room, at 3020 St Albans Mill Road in Minnetonka MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the local ALS Chapter can be made in Lee's honor. http://bit.ly/ALSMNNDSD
