Obituary of Charles Arthur Bentson
Charles A. Bentson, age 82, of Lakeville, MN passed away on January 19, 2024 following a brief illness. Charlie grew up in Montevideo, MN and was the fourth of five children. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He then went on to work in the printing industry where he spent 32 years at Litho Technical Services in Bloomington until he retired in 1999. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, and he was a true hockey fan.
Charlie led a wonderful life filled with adventure. He was a loyal, kind-hearted friend who loved to make people laugh. He was proud of his family and was always a great fan in the stands. He will be missed by family and countless friends.
Charlie is preceded in death by his mother and father, along with his four siblings. He is survived by his two children, Lori (Tony) Winiecki and Jason Bentson (Nicholle Durkee); five grandchildren, Blake (Alyssa), Heidi, Kate, Ellie, and Jack; and one great-grandchild, Riley. He is also survived by his former wife, Janice Bentson; sisters-in-law Solveig Bentson and Sharoyl Bean; along with nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, at Washburn-McReavy Dawn Valley Funeral Chapel, 9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN 55438. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. with a short program at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Charlie will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials are sent to the National Veterans Foundation.
