Obituary of Sandra Olivia Heade Thomas
Sandra Olivia Heade Thomas was born on February 1, 1950, in Detroit Michigan. She was the 3rd child of the late Diamond Dog-Herman Heade, Sr, and Nellie Arnez Robinson. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, brothers Herman Heade Jr and Demetrius Heade, sisters Brenda Lumpkin, Jessie Mae Jones, and Venita Heade, her grandsons Randall and Jarod Hardwick, and ex-husband Floyd Thomas.
Sandra was educated through the Detroit Public Schools system and moved to Buffalo, New York in her early 20’s. Shortly after marrying the family relocated to Leeds in 1979 where she was a dedicated member of the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church and raised her 3 children Cassandra, Floyd, Jr., and John.
Sandra was an active member of the Leeds community over the years! Lovingly known as Ms. San, Mama San, or Grandma she encouraged her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all of their many friends to be successful in school and in the sports and activities that they loved. Sandra loved spending time with family & friends and traveling. We can say with confidence that Sandra logged well over 150,000 sky miles traveling to and supporting her grandkids playing softball, baseball football, soccer, basketball in Alabama and Minnesota and AAU tournaments in several states across the county.
Sandra was the epitome of love, kindness, grace, and compassion. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In fact, she made every person that crossed her path feel like family! She kept in contact with and regularly checked on so many family and friends via Facebook/Instagram, text messages, phone calls when she was able. Sandra spent the last 4 years living her daughter in Eden Prairie, MN where she received state of the art medical care and treatment for advanced COPD.
She passed away at home on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
