Obituary of Richard Myron Hanson

Richard M. Hanson, 78, of Blaine, MN passed away while wintering in Texas on December 28, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1945, to Myron and Vivian Hanson. Richard proudly served in the Army from 1966 to 1972. After his military service, he worked for Sears, becoming the manager of an appliance/catalog store first in Grafton ND, and then in Little Falls, MN.  His work life culminated in a dream job, working as the manager of the marina at Madden's Resort.  
Richard was a loving husband to his late wife, Jan Hanson, and a devoted father to his daughters Bridget Hanson (Chad Conely) and Kristen (David) Goligowski. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Keon Conely, Ben Goligowski (Krista Wallin), Ellie, Jasie, and Gigi Goligowski, as well as his great-grandchildren Ronon and Spencer Goligowski.
Richard had a competitive nature and enjoyed playing and watching sports, particularly if it involved his children or grandchildren. He had a quick wit and a contagious laugh, always finding joy in life's moments, even poking fun at himself. Richard had a deep affection for animals, especially dogs, and supported local animal humane societies. He enjoyed happy hour with his friends, engaging in conversations on a wide range of topics.
A member of First Lutheran Church in Little Falls for many years, Richard later attended Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, MN, after relocating to Blaine. His faith was an important part of his life.
In his free time, Richard indulged in hobbies such as playing tennis, volleyball, racquetball, reading, camping, hunting, fishing, and water sports. He cherished spending time with his loved ones and will be deeply missed, particularly for his warm and comforting hugs.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held on January 12, 2024, at Shepherd of the Hills in Shoreview, MN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your local animal humane society or hospice facility in Richard's memory.
