Obituary of Alan D. Erickson
Alan D. Erickson, 59, of Minneapolis, died on June 5, 2016, at home of a sudden illness.
Alan was born in Waukon, Iowa, on April 2, 1957, the son of Myron and Grace Erickson. He earned a B.A. in history from Luther College and a M.A. in history from the University of Iowa. He later returned to school at Kirkwood Community College, where he received a degree as a legal assistant. He worked in the banking industry in Minneapolis.
Alan had a lifelong love of reading and was particularly interested in history and politics. He enjoyed lively conversations with his family and friends about a wide variety of topics and was a loving uncle to his nephews. He is survived by his mother, Grace Erickson of Decorah, his sister Julie (Scott) Fahlin of Plymouth, Minnesota, his sister Lori Erickson (Bob Sessions) of Iowa City, and his nephews, Owen Sessions of Huntington, West Virginia, and Carl Sessions of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his father, Myron.
A private memorial service will be held. Memorials may be sent to the Minneapolis Public Library.
