Obituary of James Allen Landberg
Funeral service celebrating the life of James Landberg of Edina will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29th, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina. A time of remembrance will be at 1:30 p.m.
Jim, age 79, passed away on December 14, 2023, at the Mt. Olivet Home in Minneapolis. The staff at Mt. Olivet along with Grace Hospice provided loving care throughout Jim’s stay. He will be remembered by his wife of 45 years Mary, brother Craig, Maggie and Dan, 100 year old Aunt Mary along with many relatives, friends and neighbors.
James Allen Landberg was born to John and Grace Landberg on December 16, 1943, in Hallock Minnesota. He graduated from Hallock High School and studied at Bemidji State University and North Dakota State University.
Jim moved to Dunkirk, Indiana where he ran the local newspaper. Upon moving back to the Twin Cities, Jim was a copy editor at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Star Tribune in Minneapolis, retiring in 2007.
Jim enjoyed spending time in his gardens, cooking and especially enjoyed preparing southern New Orleans inspired dishes. Some people liked his ribs. Jim worked the New York Times crossword puzzle. Jim enjoyed New Orleans style jazz music and he and Mary made many trips to New Orleans to hear the music and enjoy the food. After retiring Jim enjoyed his early morning walks and coffee friends.
Burial will be at a later date in Hallock, Minnesota.
