James Logan

Obituary of James Logan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of James “Jim” Logan on Monday, December 4th, 2023. Jim is predeceased by his parents Charles and Mary Lou Logan, siblings Connie Tovsen, Sharon Danielson, Susan Miller, and Michael Logan, niece Kari Logan, and nephew David Miller.

Jim will forever be loved by his wife of 49 years Debbie Logan, his siblings Charles (Dannette) Logan, Rick (Chris) Logan, sister Debbie (Tom) Lemmer, children Kevin (Lisa) Logan, Christopher (Joy) Logan, grandchildren Kyle and Karter Logan, Noelle, Faith, Lilah, and Blake Logan, as well as many other family members.

He was born in St Paul, Minnesota on July 5, 1955. He grew up moving throughout the Twin Cities, but attended high school at Irondale, class of 1974. Growing up, Jim had a passion for wrestling. By the time he was in middle school, he had attained and held many wrestling records.

He met the love of his life Debbie in eighth grade. They were married in 1974, and had two children, Kevin, and Christopher.

In his young adult years, Jim enjoyed remodeling homes with his buddies, and even helped to build a couple houses. Jim was also a pigeon keeper for many years. He loved training them and tracking them. He enjoyed sharing his passion for raising and training pigeons with his sons and his neighbor friends. He was part of a pigeon keeping club for many years and was sad to retire his hobby when he and Debbie moved to their forever home in Blaine in 1985.

As his son Kevin was growing up, Jim coached and supported various sports that he played. Jim spent hours talking about cars and even worked at an auto shop for a few years. Jim could often be found fixing and working on vehicles in his garage, especially with his younger son Chris. They even worked together on restoring a 1972 Chevelle together.

Jim and his family enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting trips. Jim was overjoyed when he became a grandparent. He loved to watch and support his grandchildren in various dance performances, vocal and instrumental concerts, as well as other sports activities such as soccer and baseball.

Jim was loved by many. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious smile (except for when we were taking photos). He liked to keep us guessing what his final facial expression would be! He was a helper. He helped both his sons remodel their first and second homes. He helped fix vehicles and various home improvement projects for many family members. He also had a green thumb and had a beautiful garden that he loved spending time tending to his flowers and vegetables. Jim was very dependable and always early to wherever he needed to be. He was a hard worker by nature.

Jim had a love for Elvis. His basement contained several memorabilia of the legend. He also had a love for the Minnesota Vikings. He made sure to watch every game they played, even though he knew they would most likely lose.

He dedicated 35 years of his life working at Hypro Corporation, working his way up to a management position. In his final years, Jim took pride working at Menards, where he got to interact and socialize with the customers and share his knowledge of all things electrical.

Our heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Jim recently in the ICU at Mercy Hospital, as well as the rehabilitation center at United Hospital. Although we believe that his time on earth ended too soon, we find peace and comfort knowing that he did not suffer in his final hours.
