Obituary of Robert Joseph Gillman

Robert was born to Joseph and Mary in St. Paul, MN. He was united in marriage to Sue Gillman on 5/27/67. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. Robert graduated from Mechanic Arts High School, then became a Vietnam Veteran after serving in the US Navy, on the USS Kearsargr, CVS 33. He worked at Red Owl/Snyders for many years eventually retiring from Thomson Reuters. Any chance he could get to play cards or games he did and loved the challenge. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Friends share their best memory of Robert was his sense of humor and just being a great guy.

He is survived by son, Scott (Abra), daughter, Julie and grandchildren Nik, Courtney, Taylor (Kyle), Briana, Piper, Jordan, Emily, Mitchell, Chance, and Jas. He is also survived by his brother Junior (Pam), and sisters, Virginia, and Gloria (Charlie) and sister-in-law Barb (Jerry) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Wife, Sue, Father, Joseph and Mother, Mary, sisters, Helen, Doris and Brother Joe, Mother-in-law Lucille, Father-in-law, Frank, step Father-in-law, Herb, Sister-in-laws, Louann, Ginny and Brother-in-law, Jim, Harold, and Don.

A special thank you to the residents and staff at Red Cedar Canyon in Hudson, WI where he resided the last 2 ½ years and Moments Hospice for the compassion and care he received.

A visitation is planned for Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 1575 Charlton Street, West St. Paul, MN, with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. and then a procession to Roselawn Cemetery, 803 Larpenteur Avenue, Roseville, MN at 12:30 p.m. as his final resting place. Cookies and bars will be offered during the visitation.
