Obituary of Gordon John Nagel

Gordon “Gordy” John Nagel, a longtime resident of Chanhassen went to his heavenly home on November 9, 2023 at the age of 71, surrounded by his adoring family. Born on April 2, 1952 to Victor and Marie Nagel, he was the second of five children, Dan, David, Mary, and Joe. Gordy is survived by his amazing wife of 49 loving years, Sharon; children Kelley (Todd) Bader, Jamie (Brett) Colbjornsen; grandchildren Taylor, Peyton, Alaina, Liv, and Leighton.

Gordy was an Aerospace Engineer at Honeywell for 29 years and retired in 2015. Gordy enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime, whether it be sailing, boating, camping, riding his motorcycle, bible study, or in his workshop busy building something. Always the spiritual man, he devoted much time to his church, family, and friends. He took every opportunity to share his faith, in hopes that others would find the same refuge and love that he so deeply relied on throughout his life.

Gordy will be remembered and missed for his quiet dignity, great steadfast integrity, caring, and deep abiding faith in God. He adored his wife, Sharon, and was grateful for the love they shared. His daughters often say they couldn’t have wished for a better Dad. He relished his role as Papa and his grandkids were often visiting him and Grammy. He was a trusted friend to many and never judged, but always loved those around him.

Gordy will be greatly missed by his family and those that knew him. To say he was a “Great Man” is such an understatement to how he lived his life. He fought through every health battle with grace and humility. He was often heard saying, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He never complained and was forever grateful to God for the strength that was provided to him. His greatest wish was to arrive at Heaven and hear God say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
