Obituary of Warren Thomas Warmka
Warren Thomas Warmka passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on November 9, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 3, 1945 to Bill and Bernice Warmka, he was the sixth of eight children. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth; children Shelly (Todd) Viskocil, Suzanne (Ben Nelson) Engstrom, Jeff (Tess) Warmka, and Gretchen (Tracy) Shad; grandchildren Samuel, Cole, Isabel, Aislinn, Audrey, Sophia, Joseph, Greta, Mallory, and Selah.
Warren attended Airframe & Powerplant Technical School in Minneapolis. He was employed by Northwest/Delta Airlines for 39 years. He began as a mechanic, and also had roles as a technical manual writer, Senior Foreman, Senior Manager and retired in 2005. Warren mentored many young employees and his colleagues would describe him as “tough but fair.”
Warren developed many hobbies during his lifetime and was always a learner. Part owner of his own plane, he often flew for recreation — memories his children remember fondly. Ever the renaissance man, Warren was at home in nature. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, travel in the RV, volunteering, and home projects. He even became a beekeeper, though deathly allergic to bees; he was eventually forced to retire his bees.
Warren will be remembered and missed for his quiet dignity, steadfast integrity, and deep, abiding faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. A greeting time (10:15am) and service (11:00am) will be held at Eden Baptist Church at 1313 Highway 13 E, Burnsville, MN, on Saturday 11/18.
