Obituary of Diana Leone Wahlstrom

Diana Leone Wahlstrom Diana Leone Wahlstrom (Lien), age 82, of Lakeville, Minnesota and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marian Lien; brothers in-law, In Sun Hong, Jerry Wahlstrom, Maynard Wahlstrom, and Vernon Wahlstrom; sisters in-law, Shirley Stilwell, Marion Korpi, and Georgia Wahlstrom. Diana will be deeply missed by those who survive her: husband of 61 years, Carl Wahlstrom; children, Heidi Brown (Daniel), Kurt Wahlstrom, and Sara Wahlstrom; grandchildren, Hannah Brown, Wesley Brown (Maritza Wiedel), Meghan Brown, and Zoya Wahlstrom; sister, Barbara Hong; brothers- and sisters in-law, Duane Wahlstrom, Marlyn Wahlstrom (Muriel), and Jean Wahlstrom (Marvin Kananen); nieces and nephews; cousins; friends; and Maize, her cat. Diana built her life around her faith, family, friends and the values she learned on the farm. We are forever grateful for her selfless nature and the love that she had for each of us. Diana was born in Santa Monica, California on January 26, 1941. She moved with her family to Roseville, Minnesota and began her early education. When Diana was still a young girl, the family moved to a farm near Herman, Minnesota, fulfilling her father’s dream. Life on the farm instilled many of the values that Diana carried throughout her life including the importance of hard work, respect, honesty, and doing the right thing. Diana graduated Co-Valedictorian from Herman High School in 1959 and, following a brief time at Concordia College, went on to work as a legal secretary in downtown Minneapolis in her early twenties. She married Carl on June 30,1962 and stayed home once they started their family. She embraced her new role and loved her family beyond measure. After her children had grown, she went back to school, graduating Cum Laude in 1983 from Hamline University. She subsequently accepted a position at 3M and worked there for fifteen years. Diana’s faith was a primary anchor throughout her life. She thrived when she was able to share her faith and help others through teaching Sunday school, participating in Bible studies, and collaborating with others in committees at Hosanna Church. The family has peace knowing that she is at home with her Lord and Savior. For Diana, the quality of her friendships were valued over the quantity. If you were lucky enough to be called her friend, she held onto you tightly and loved you dearly. Diana knew the importance of family relationships and held those the closest, especially her sister’s family. At Diana’s request, a private celebration of life service will be held at Hosanna Church in Lakeville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Moments Memory Care or Minnesota Hospice.
