Therese Sundberg

Obituary of Therese Marie Sundberg

Therese Marie Sundberg, a lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away unexpectedly at her home, Sunday, October 22, 2023.

Therese was born October 12, 1953, to Jospeh Frederick and Patricia Ann Beaulier. She graduated from Denfeld High School and then attended the College of St. Scholastica where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees in Nursing. She began her career at the Bethany Crisis Shelter for youth before moving on to specialize as a Nurse Practitioner in psychiatric-mental health for Essentia Health Services for 35 years. She had recently retired in 2021.

On May 1, 1986, Therese wed Michael Jay Sundberg in Duluth where they made their home and welcomed their children, daughter, Alissa, and son, John. Therese and her family created many unforgettable memories throughout the years, and she eagerly anticipated becoming a grandmother for the first time. She enjoyed each family vacation boating to the Apostle Islands; time spent at the family cabin in Danbury, Wisconsin; winters cross country skiing; traveling across the county; long winters at her Florida home with Michael; holiday celebrations surrounded by her family; and relaxing with a good book. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Duluth Fire Department’s “Fill the Boot” campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and took immense pride in her many years providing adult mental health rehabilitation services to her many patients.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Allan G. Beaulier.

Therese will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Michael; her children, daughter Alissa Sundberg Horan and son John Michael (Vanessa) Sundberg; sister Joanne (Billy Joe) Cox; brothers Timothy (Theresa) Beaulier, James Beaulier, and Lawrence (Cindy) Beaulier; nieces Crystal (Travis) Jonns, Claire Beaulier, Brianna Beaulier, and Patti Rose Beaulier; nephews Zach (Lauren) Sundberg, Anton Van Vlymen, Christopher Wakefield, Jacques (Ann Marie) Beaulier, Alex Beaulier; in-laws Barbara Sargent and Lisa Smothers, and Lisa Sundberg; and her beloved red poodle Bella Rose.

Funeral Services for Therese will be held at 11 am Friday, October 27th at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Oneota Cemetery, 6403 Highland Street, Duluth, MN after the completion of the service. Please join the family at Mr. D’s in West Duluth immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Therese’s memory be sent to the Duluth Fire Department.
