Obituary of Dana Shannon
On Saturday, October 7th, 2023 Dana Shannon passed away at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. She was 45 years old. Dana was born on July 18th, 1978 to David Hanson and Toni (Pettis) Bottemiller. They survive.
Dana and high school boyfriend, David Malkerson had their daughter, Makayla in 1995 and she then graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1996. After graduation, she started her career with Coon Rapids Chrysler Jeep where took on various duties. . Several years later Dana met Alan Shannon and they had a son, Zachary Shannon, together in 2001 and were married in 2006.
Dana was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and coworker. Dana was always taking care of the people she loved and ensuring that they always felt appreciated. She was always seen as the person to go to when in a tricky situation due to her being a natural problem solver and a straight shooter. She was the type of person who couldn’t wait to give others gifts because she loved to see the joy on people’s faces. At the time of Dana’s death she was working as the Bingo Manager for the Spring Lake Park Lions Club and was loved by many of her customers.
In addition to her parents, Dana is survived by children Makayla (Jake Lamb) Malkerson and Zachary Shannon, grandchildren Kylie, Ava Jo, and Cameron Lamb siblings, Jason (Amie) Hexom, Corie (Brett) Zelazoski, sister-in-law Jenny Hexom and nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kendall Hexom and Olivia and Brooks Zelazoski.
Dana was preceded in death by her Dad, Robert Bottemiller, Brother, Ryan Bottemiller, Maternal Grandparents (Marland and Murial Pettis), Paternal Grandparents (Marvin and Elvera Hanson) and Bonus Grandparents (William and Jean Bottemiller).
A memorial service will be held for Dana on October 28th, 2023 beginning 5:30pm at Presbyterian Church of the Master located at 789 Northdale Blvd. Coon Rapids, MN 55448. There will be a dinner reception to follow sponsored by the Spring Lake Park Lions Club.
