Obituary of Kenneth "Ken" John Munsterman
Kenneth John Munsterman, also known as Ken, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 28, 2023, at the age of 79 in Minneapolis, Minnesota after courageously battling with his third round of cancer. He was born on July 1, 1944, in Appleton, Minnesota, to John and Evelyn Munsterman.
Ken was a devoted family man and cherished his loved ones deeply. He is survived by his loving wife, Myra, and his sons Brian (Jessica), Chad (Gina) and (Debbie). Ken was a proud grandfather to Amber, Mitchell, Chaya, Rachel, Blake, Amber and Markus (Natasha), and a great-grandfather to Isabella, Natalia, Evelyn, Olivia, and Eli. He also leaves behind his brother Merlyn Munsterman (Jeanene) and sister Iris (Gary) Laurant, and in-laws Roger (Mary), Sharon, Chuck, Byron (Jodi) and many nieces and nephews. Ken is preceded in death by son John, parents John and Evelyn (Behrens) Munsterman, Bill Behrens, Eskield and Adeline Nielsen.
Family meant the world to Ken, and he was known for his passion for hunting and spending time outdoors. He loved gardening, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and took great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Ken's educational journey began at Appleton High School. However, he took over the family farm in 1961 after the passing of his father, almost dropping out of school. In 1967, he married Myra and moved to Holloway, Minnesota. While farming, Ken also worked in Benson, Minnesota, until 1969 when he relocated to Minneapolis. There, he embarked on a successful career path.
Ken held various positions throughout his career, starting as a Vice President in sales at Coinco. He then worked in the vending industry before joining QX Incorporated as a Die Cast Operator. Later, he transitioned into Shipping and Receiving, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement in 2009.
To honor Ken's life and celebrate his memory, a service will be held at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, located at 6180 Highway 65 NE, Fridley, Minnesota 55432 on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Visitation starts at 10:00 am with service at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow.
Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through the love and memories he created and shared with his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
