Obituary of Bernard Diedrich
Bernard “Hap” Diedrich, 88, of Esko, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the Twin Ports Health Center in Superior, WI.
Bernard was born on August 1, 1935, and was raised in Argyle, MN by Frank and Ruby Diedrich. He graduated from Egg School in Grand Rapids, MN, and then served in the US Army in 1954, until his Honorable Discharge. In 1955 he began driving for Simon Trucking.
Bernard married Jacky Postal in November of 1963. He started driving for Transport Trucking in 1966 and retired in 1997.
In 2001, Bernard met Mary Mugs Hanson and they were together until her passing in 2016. He then met Jackie Peterson. In 1999, Bernard came out of retirement to drive and work for Cloquet Ford and Chrysler until retiring again in 2019 from a job he loved. His other hobbies were baking, fishing, and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn; brother, Al Diedrich; sister, Eleane Mauska; brothers-in-law: Ted Beckwith, Reggie Postal, and Ray Postal; sister-in-law, Joellen Carroll; and son, Kevin Gallipo.
Bernard is survived by daughters: Rene (Paul) Zieglar of Cloquet, Holly Diedrich of Duluth; son, Richard Diedrich of Cumberland, WI; granddaughter, Jessica (Darrell) Christian; grandsons, Zach Drew and Westley Gallipo; great-granddaughter, Emelia Christian, brothers-in-law: Bud (Alice) Postal, Bob (Myrna) Postal, Dick (Pat) Postal, Rollie Postal; sisters-in-law, Jerry Beckwith, Cathie Postal, Jocelyn (Jay) Sharp; and obviously dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, Monday, October 16 at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave, in Duluth.
