Obituary of Donald LeRoy Syvertson
Donald LeRoy Syvertson passed away on September 4, 2023. Donald was born on August 1st, 1933 to parents, Orville and Mildred (Fahlin) Syvertson in Holmes City Township of Douglas County, MN, He was one of 4 children. He attended school in the
Don married Darlene Kluver on October 6th 1956 in
Don and Darlene began studying the Bible and Don was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 26, 1974. He enjoyed the privilege of serving as a congregation elder in the
When Don retired, he enjoyed being active outdoors, building cedar strip canoes, gardening, building rustic furniture, and spending time with his family and friends. His lifelong love of music allowed him to be part of a singing group on the local radio station, as well as playing music with friends and family. Don was known for his love of family and his witty sense of humor. He was a fine example of being hard working, kind, patient, and humble to all that knew him.
Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Darlene: daughters Lynn Syvertson and Deborah Anderson: grandchildren Elliot (Courtney) Anderson, Emily (Matthew) Johnson, Heather (Christian ) Simpson, and Chris Anderson: great-grandchildren Aurora and Noah Johnson, Marcus, Gabrielle, and Justin West, Cassaundra (Myles)Smith and Alexander Anderson ; great great-grandchild Harrison Smith and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents his father and mother-in-law, Everett and Violet Kluver; his daughter Lori; siblings, Milton Syvertson, Vivian Syvertson and Marian Lenz; son-in-law Rolland Anderson and brother-in-law Lowell (Rosalie) Lenz and brother-in-law Marvin (Florence) Kluver.
A memorial service for Donald will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 23rd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,
