Obituary of Charles Robert Swanson
Charles Robert Swanson, age 75, of Duluth, MN lost his battle with cancer and passed away on September 3, 2023 at the Solvay Hospice House in the arms of loved ones.
Chuck was born on April 10, 1948 to parents Robert Swanson and Dorothy (Phyle) Swanson. He graduated from Cathedral High School, later obtained a certificate in Financial Advising and retired at the age of 62.
Chuck married Pamela Buran on September 12, 1970 at St. Michaels Church in Duluth, MN. They later welcomed 2 children to complete their family. Chuck and Pam would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary this month.
Chuck was a dedicated and proud member of the AAD Shrine Temple. He began his Mason quest with Euclid Lodge 198. Chuck held many officer positions throughout the years, in the AAD Shrine, focusing most of his time with the Dune Buggy Patrol, Fun Razors, and Royal Order of Jesters. Chuck was honored as Shriner of the Year in 2022. He also enjoyed traveling with Pam and spending time with friends and family, fishing and hunting. Chuck was one of a kind. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck had this positive aura about him that lit up the room when entering. His warm-hearted demeanor is what shaped his selflessness and caring attitude towards others.
Preceded in death are his parents, Robert and Dorothy; and sisters, Bonnie and Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela of Duluth; 2 children, Paul (Rachel) Swanson, their children, Bode, Wren, and Nash of Duluth; and Jamie (Paul) Jarett, their children, Andrew, Lincoln, Stella, Noah, and Janey of Byron, MN; brother, Del (Jan) Swanson of Belgrade, MT.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Michael’s Church in Duluth on Saturday, September 30th at 11am, visitation at 10am. Lunch will be served following the service. His final resting place will be Park Hill Cemetery.
Special thank you to the Hospice in-home care team, who provided excellent care to all of Chuck’s needs and Solvay Hospice House where he spent his last days with us.
